As the anniversary of the day we lost Vicki approaches; I am finding myself thinking of her often and missing her daily presence. It seems odd that time has gone so quickly as the days, weeks, and months just following were just a blur. Whole Life Home Care wants to honor Vicki during the month of October and encourage everyone to find gratefulness in your life, love like you have never loved before, and continue to find your inner peace every day.
Our family has begun to prepare for the anniversary date and with the creation of the Vicki Wolfrum Memorial Fund; we have been reminded how generous and giving all the people that knew and loved Vicki are. Together with the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition; our family will be attending the Liquid Gold Gala in honor of Vicki.
Please read the letter below to see what the Vicki Wolfrum Memorial Fund has accomplished this year.
Dear Family and Friends:
Almost one year ago we lost Vicki Wolfrum – mother, wife, sister, and pillar of the natural birth and breastfeeding community. In the days following Vicki’s passing, her family decided that there was no better way to honor her, than to start a memorial fund that would allow others to carry on her passion for connecting mothers and babies at the breast.
As a midwife and lactation consultant she was known for her wealth of knowledge and her ability to inspire and envelop those around her with her radiating warmth and peaceful sense of calm. Vicki was the “Mother of All Mothers.” She devoted her life to teaching women to trust their own bodies and to nourish their children from the power of their own breast. She mothered mothers into mothering. She was never more herself than when she was teaching and advocating for mothers and babies – you could unequivocally feel the passion in her voice and in loving touch.
And now, because of your generous donations, Vicki will continue the work she loved so much through the special individuals who receive her scholarship to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) through the Vicki Wolfrum Memorial Fund. We are proud to announce that over the last year, the Vicki Wolfrum Memorial Fund has raised $4,235.00, and we have selected two qualified recipients to each receive $895.00 towards their IBCLC education.
Both recipients will be recognized at the upcoming at the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition (SDCBC) Liquid Gold Gala on October 7, 2017. Before her passing, Vicki was slated to become the President of the SDCBC and spent countless hours laying out new ideas and goals that now, even in her physical absence, are being carried out by the current Board of Directors.
Vicki’s family will attend the event in honor of Vicki and to celebrate the inaugural scholarship recipients. We hope that you will not only join us, but that you will continue to give, so that the Fund can continue to carry on Vicki’s legacy and spirit.
The Fund is housed within the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition (SDCBC) and is carefully stewarded by Vicki’s daughter-in- law and new SDCBC Treasurer, LeAnn Rytz to ensure that every dollar is used to support education for future IBCLC’s. Each year the Fund plans to award at least two or more applicants with this honor, but we can’t do this without your continued financial support!
